A Higher Place

The Apostle Paul teaches in the book of Ephesians Chapter 4:

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

 I have been so excited to watch our church family embrace this New Testament, church model. CHOP is experiencing a shift from the traditional church model of “Clergy Dependent “ to the New Testament model for “Equipping Saints”. This model is clearly the New Testament paradigm for our church. Our purpose is clear: to prepare God’s people for works of service.

I have been so grateful to know we are moving beyond the ministry of Preachers being center stage while preaching to a group of spectators. We are the body of Christ. We must aim for that sweet spot where giftedness, passion, and spiritual maturity touch and overlap each other. That sweet spot is where new converts and new ministry are born. This is the place where disciples are made. God is calling CHOP to come up higher to the place where God desires to take us.

May God bless each of you. Amen.

    At the Foot of the Cross

    We’ve probably all joked at one time or another about “so and so” living at the foot of the cross. Recently, I noticed Isaiah the Prophet really did experience what it was like at the foot of the cross some 700 years before it happened!  “Behold my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted…

    July 4, 1776. A brave step of faith in a surprising journey that stunned the world. Representatives from the thirteen colonies signed their names to a document declaring their national independence from Great Britain. The colonists had only a small trained army and a meager navy, yet by signing their names they essentially declared war…
